In a short speech, Bernhard Ehrenzeller congratulated the scholarship holders on their extraordinary accomplishment. He emphasized the importance of the qualities of perseverance and tenacity. In the words of the American poet John Greenleaf Whittier, “Rest if you must, but don’t you quit!”

HSG Excellence Scholarships from the Monique Dornonville de la Cour Foundation

On Monday evening, 16 Swiss bachelor’s and one master’s student received their certificate for a Monique Dornonville de la Cour Foundation Excellence Scholarship. The scholarships have been awarded for the first time for the academic year 2021/2022.

Daniel Joel Stoffel, pursuing a master’s in Banking & Finance, thinks long-term – in his studies and in his life. This year he is the first and only master’s student to receive an Excellence Scholarship from the Monique Dornonville de la Cour Foundation. On the significance of the scholarship for him, he says: “On the one hand, I would have had to finance my studies myself, so this scholarship offers me great financial relief. And on the other hand, it’s nice to see the hard work pay off and be rewarded.”

HSG Starr International Foundation Excellence Scholarships since 2010

The achievements of 17 international master’s students from ten nations will be supported and honored in the academic year 2021/2022 with a scholarship from the Starr International Foundation. The Foundations Excellence Scholarships have been awarded this year for the 12th time to international HSG students from English-language masters programs. Since 2010, 127 Master’s students have received a HSG Excellence Scholarship from the Starr International Foundation, which is based in Zurich and New York.

Keisha Mathews is certain: “No matter what life throws at me after university, I now know I can handle it.” Her master’s degree in Strategy & International Management (SIM) and the Covid19 pandemic have challenged and fostered her resilience.

New regulations for fair performance evaluation

As of August 1, 2021, a new set of regulations for awarding excellence scholarships at the HSG is in effect. The performance achieved at the HSG will now be evaluated and no reference will be made to external performance, as was previously the case. Only students that fulfill the corresponding criteria are invited to apply. Generally, the scholarship amount is based on the tuition fees for the standard period of study of the respective programs.
