Wishes for the HSG Learning Center

In the foundation stone we will concrete a time capsule. It will contain information about the building project, time testimonials and wishes.

The time capsule will be opened on the occasion of the HSG’s 150th anniversary celebration in 2048 and will reveal today’s wishes and ideas. The wishes are placed in paper form in the time capsule and embedded in concrete in the HSG Learning Center. The video messages are electronically encrypted and stored in the St.Gallen State Archive until 2048.

On the custom of laying the foundation stone

A foundation stone contains a “time capsule”, for example a soldered tin vessel, which contains a document with information about the building project, time certificates such as current daily newspapers, coins and other symbolic objects.

In particular, the HSG Learning Center’s time capsule is to be filled with the wishes, ideas and expectations of students, alumnae and alumni, donors, staff, professors, the University Council, the Senate, student body, honorary senators, emeriti, the HSG Foundation, politicians, authorities and partners, residents and the general public. These wishes are intended to bring good luck and serve as testimonials to our time. The foundation stone is walled in at the foundation area. The festive ceremony is concluded with hammer blows and a simultaneous blessing.
